Meri, PhD (Ed.) is a senior researcher at the University of Helsinki in the Centre for Educational Assessment (CEA) and at the Tampere University in the Research centre for Education, Assessment and Learning (REAL). Meri has research expertise in studying the system- and local-level variation of the provision of educational support based on registry data and official statistics merged with the longitudinal assessment data.

 

Meri has studied e.g. the transition of ninth grade students to upper secondary education from the perspective of Tier-level support and different background factors. In her research, Meri focuses on the support system for learning and school attendance, the education policy of basic education as well as equality in education. In her dissertation, Meri studied the learning and schooling support system and the official statistics of special education.
